Slip Solutions provide NATA accredited slip testing for both commercial and residential properties. We provide slip testing services along the East coast of Northern NSW and South East QLD from Byron Bay through the Gold Coast and Brisbane all the way up the Sunshine Coast.

Slip Solutions have qualified and trained staff to do slip testing for any business and location. By using the techniques set by the Australian standards, we provide wet and dry slip resistance testing with consistent results. With strict WHS procedures and relevant insurance, Slip Solutions are the right choice for any size company.

As a complete service, we can provide both Slip Testing as well as a solution for any floor or surface that does not comply with Australian Standards.

The two main methods used to test slip resistance are wet and dry testing.  Both methods are in accordance with the Australian standards:

AS 4663-2013: Slip resistance measurement of existing pedestrian surfaces.

AS 4586-2013: Slip resistance classification of new pedestrian surface materials.

Dry testing is done using the Tortus 3 unit which provides the Coefficient Of Friction (COF) reading of a dry surface.

The dry slip resistance test is done by measuring the force applied to a rubber disc when it gets pulled along a surface. The rubber disc is a 9 mm diameter slider made from Slider 96 material weighing 200 grams. The slip resistance or Coefficient of friction is a ratio of the horizontal force compared to the vertical weight of the rubber disc as it moves along the surface.

Slip testing with a pendulum

For wet slip testing, we use the latest pendulum testing units which are regularly calibrated by trained technicians and every two years by a NATA accredited external company according to the Australian Standards.

The test is done in simulating wet conditions by spraying the surface with water. The pendulum test machine then swings across the wet surface five times and the average of the last three readings are used to calculate reading of the surface. Five different locations are chosen and are averaged out to give the final slip rating.
